Overview
If you are an eligible Permanent Resident (PR), you can use this e-Service to submit and track your citizenship application online. You may also sponsor applications for your spouse, children, or aged parents.

ICA considers factors such as the individual's family ties to Singaporeans, economic contributions, qualifications, age, family profile and length of residency, to assess the applicant's ability to contribute to Singapore and integrate into our society, as well as his or her commitment to sinking roots.
ICA has no affiliation with any other external migration agency/ commercial entity that claims to be a Singapore immigration specialist/consultant or partner. ICA does not support or endorse services by self-proclaimed professional immigration consultancy service providers for Singapore citizenship application.
Singpass Requirement
All applicants must review the application form before submission. To review the form, applicants need to log in to the ICA e-Service using their Singpass or unique log in credentials (provided by ICA for those ineligible for Singpass) to make their declarations.
Approval for a Singpass account application may take 2 to 5 working days. We recommend that sponsors/applicants start an application only after all eligible applicants have successfully registered for a Singpass account.
National Service Obligation
National Service Liability
Under the Enlistment Act 1970, all male SCs and PRs, must serve National Service (NS) unless exempted. This includes all male applicants who are granted Singapore citizenship or Singapore permanent residence status as a foreign student or under their parents’ sponsorship.
All male applicants must visit www.cmpb.gov.sg for information on NS before proceeding with this application.
Registration and enlistment
You must register for NS upon reaching 16½ years old. You will be scheduled for enlistment into full-time NS at the earliest opportunity upon reaching 18 years old. MINDEF allows students to attain educational qualifications up to the ‘A’ Levels certificate, the polytechnic diploma, or an equivalent pre-tertiary qualification before they serve NS. They are enlisted at the earliest opportunity when they have finished pre-tertiary education, or after turning 18, whichever is later. MINDEF does not grant deferment for university studies, regardless of whether such studies have begun. If you are granted citizenship while in university, you must disrupt your studies to enlist if you cannot complete them before your enlistment date.
Operationally Ready NSman:
Following the completion of full-time NS, you will become an Operationally Ready National Serviceman (NSman). An NSman’s obligation will end at the age 50 (for Officers) or 40 years (for other ranks).

You will need to provide certified true copies of the original documents and official translations (for documents in languages other than English).
ICA accepts:
- Translations provided by the embassy of the country/place that issued the document
- Translations produced by a notary public in Singapore or the country/place that issued the document
- Privately created translations attested by the embassy of the country/place that issued the document, or notarised by a notary public in Singapore or the country/place that issued the document.
ICA does not endorse any private translation companies or entities. Insufficient documentation may result in non-acceptance of your application. You may be required to provide additional documents to support your application.

Processing Time
ICA generally processes applications within 12 months. For children born overseas to SCs, the application will be processed within 1 month, provided you submit all required documents in order. Some applications may take longer to process.
Application Status
Completion of Formalities
If your application is successful, you will receive an IPA letter. You will receive Singapore citizenship once you fulfil the necessary conditions.
If you are aged 16 to 60, you must complete the mandatory Singapore Citizenship Journey (SCJ) programme.

Your letter can be addressed to ICA Services Centre. The letter is to be dated no more than 3 months from the date you apply for Singapore citizenship, stating your occupation, date of employment, basic and gross salary per month.
